Technology selection of diamond saw blade head



When the diamond grain size is coarse and single, the blade head is sharp, and the cutting efficiency is high, but the bending strength of diamond agglomerate is reduced; when the diamond grain size is fine or the coarse and fine grain size are mixed, the blade head is durable, but the efficiency is low. Considering the above factors, it is more suitable to choose the diamond grain size of 50 / 60 mesh.


1. Selection of diamond particle size


When the diamond grain size is coarse and single, the blade head is sharp, and the cutting efficiency is high, but the bending strength of diamond agglomerate is reduced; when the diamond grain size is fine or the coarse and fine grain size are mixed, the blade head is durable, but the efficiency is low. Considering the above factors, it is more suitable to choose the diamond grain size of 50 / 60 mesh.


2. Selection of diamond distribution concentration


In a certain range, when the diamond concentration changes from low to high, the sharpness and sawing efficiency of the saw blade gradually decrease, while the service life is gradually extended; but if the concentration is too high, the saw blade will become blunt. However, the efficiency will be improved with low concentration and coarse particle size. Using the different functions of each part of the cutter head in sawing and adopting different concentrations (i.e. the lower concentration can be used in the middle layer of three or more layers structure), the middle groove is formed on the cutter head during the sawing process, which is conducive to preventing the saw blade from deflecting, so as to improve the stone processing quality.

3. Selection of diamond strength


The strength of diamond is an important index to ensure the cutting performance. Too high strength will make the crystal not easy to be broken, the abrasive particles will be polished when they are used, and the sharpness will be reduced, resulting in the deterioration of tool performance; when the strength of diamond is not enough, it is easy to be broken after being impacted, so it is difficult to bear the heavy task of cutting. Therefore, the strength should be 130 ~ 140n


4. Selection of bonding phase


The performance of saw blade depends not only on diamond, but also on the overall performance of the composite material, which is composed of diamond and binder. For marble and other soft stones, the mechanical properties of the cutter head are required to be relatively low, and copper based binder can be selected. However, the sintering temperature of copper based binder is low, the strength and hardness are low, the toughness is high, and the bonding strength with diamond is low. When tungsten carbide (WC) is added, WC or W2C is used as the skeleton metal, and appropriate cobalt is added to improve the strength, hardness and bonding characteristics. A small amount of Cu, Sn, Zn and other metals with low melting point and hardness are added as the bonding phase. The particle size of the main additive should be smaller than 200 mesh, and the particle size of the additive should be smaller than 300 mesh.

5. Selection of sintering process


With the increase of temperature, the densification degree of matrix increases, and the bending strength also increases. With the extension of holding time, the bending strength of blank matrix and diamond agglomerate increases first and then decreases. The sintering process of 120s at 800 ℃ can be selected to meet the performance requirements.
