Cracks caused by defects of diamond saw blade matrix materials
At present, the steel used for diamond saw blade is mainly medium high carbon spring steel. The nonmetallic inclusions, uneven structure, microcracks and surface defects in medium high carbon spring steel can be the energy sources of fatigue cracks, which can promote the early failure of saw blade matrix. The non-metallic inclusions, surface defects and band segregation in the medium and high carbon spring steel are the main factors affecting the service life of the saw blade matrix. Because there are pockmarks, defects or dense carbide particles or band segregation on the surface of the diamond saw blade matrix, these as fatigue sources promote the fatigue failure of the saw blade matrix. In addition, due to the low fracture toughness of the material, the matrix of the saw blade is subject to premature fatigue fracture.
